Marriage is an incredible gift, and to be there on the day it all begins and see the details as they unfold-- the flowers arriving, the bride snacking in her robe before slipping on the most beautiful dress she'll ever wear, the thoughtful mother of the bride making sure every detail is in place behind the scenes, the sacrificial friend that lights the candles that were forgotten just before the ceremony, the flower girl's frantic bathroom break with t-minus 3 minutes until she needs to go down the aisle, the groom's face as he glimpses his bride for the first time-- it's a gift. To be trusted to capture it all is a gift as well. To tag team with my sister in law brings so much fun and joy and laughter to the day too. And in the end, when someone tells me we made it fun, and not stressful, and helped out in making the day run smoothly? Well that's just bonus points. Also, I have yet to meet a wedding that has not made me slip into a corner and wipe a few tears away before pressing my shutter button again.
